BTEC DANCE WORKSHOPS

Designed to link directly to the BTEC specification these workshops aim to explore our repertoire whilst developing dancers technical and performance ability. Led by a company dancer these inspiring workshops will introduce James’ style as well the ideas and approaches behind the choreography. Dancers will be led through a demanding workshop to develop the skills and understanding in relation to the selected unit.
LEVEL 2
COMPONENT 1: EXPLORING THE PERFORMING ARTS
EXPLORATION OF WITHIN HER EYES
​
Focusing on Within Her Eyes, the workshop will support dancers to examine a professional practitioners’ performance work and explore the interrelationships between constituent features. Dancers will explore the themes and choreographic idea’s in Within Her Eyes and will explore how the piece was created including looking at how James worked with artists in non-performance roles.
Resources are available to complement this workshop, including new filmed material with James discussing the work in relation to the learning aims for the unit.

Led by a company dancer, the workshop will include:

Exploration of choreographic themes, the structure, production features and purpose of the work.

Discussion of the choices influencing lighting, costume and set and how James worked with these artists to create the work.

Contact and technique work linked to Within Her Eyes.

Creative tasks based on the themes of Within Her Eyes.

A strong focus throughout the workshop on the specific skills being utilised in relation to the work and the roles and responsibility of the dancer and choreographer.

Q&A session with our company dancer relating to performance roles, responsibilities and skills.

Half day workshop, led by one workshop leader, available for a maximum of 26 participants (size of space dependent).
